Akureyri International Airport (AEY) is a small single terminal airport located in the north of Iceland, a few km/mi south of the town of Akureyri. Akureyri sits on the west side at the base of Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjörður, located in the very middle of the island's northern coast. It is an important airport as the town is known as the "Capital of Northern Iceland".

The airport has a small parking lot with a small number of parking spaces located near the terminal. As you approach the airport from Akureyri town, follow the signs, take the first exit to the right, leading up to a hangar. The airport parking lot is next to it.

The airport also offers long-term parking at a parking lot located to the left when approaching the airport terminal. Either turn left directly after exiting Eyjafjarðarbraut and find the parking lot on the right hand side, or continue on the "ring road", pass the airport terminal and take the first exit to the right and you'll find the parking lot located on the left hand side.

How to Get to Akureyri International Airport

Akureyri International Airport (AEY) is located 3.5 km/2.2 mi south of central Akureyri. To get to the airport from the Ráðhústorg in the town's center head southeast on Skipagata toward Hofsbót, turn left onto Kaupvangsstræti, and then right onto Drottningsbraut. After 1.9 km/1.2 mi continue onto Eyjafjarðarbraut vestri for 1.1 km/0.7 mi, and then turn left onto Flugvallarvegur. The airport is located on the right after 210 m/690 ft.
